Warm weather fashions with eye catching dresses and flirty skirts will soon make their way into the magazines and our favorite stores. These great new styles create a fashion dilemma for many women. Do we wear hosiery or not? Hosiery is to a woman's legs, what make-up is to a woman's face.
Here are several questions you need to answer before deciding.
1. Are your legs in tip top condition? Do they have an even tanned look? Is the skin smooth, free of stubble as well as blotches or blemishes? If not, then hosiery will conceal, tan and make your legs look slimmer and more beautiful. Shop around for a pair of pantyhose or stockings that will work best for you. Prices vary from $7.00 - $50.00.
2. Have your hips, thighs and derriere lost their firmness? An honest assessment of how good a shape we are in will dictate how we dress. Wearing hosiery under skirts and pants will help to hold you in, giving you the appearance that you've firmed up your body. You will appear to have lost weight and look better in your clothes. If you're wearing a skirt and your legs look great from the knee down, consider a style that stops above the knee or wear a body toner.
3. Are bare legs appropriate for the events of the day? The current trend is to go without, but most business settings are not the place to expose bare legs. Women who bare too much skin at work are taken less seriously than their male counterparts whose casual dress tends to be more traditional.
Not Wearing Hosiery
At work could send the message that you
care more about fashion than your career.
Too casual for the workplace.
Requires that you take the time to
meticulously groom legs and feet. Legs
need to be smooth, tanned and moisturized.
Will allow perspiration to damage insoles and
decrease the life of your close-toe shoes.
Wearing Hosiery
Will leave a professional impression
on those you do business with.
A quick solution that camouflages most
imperfections like, dry skin, slight stubble,
varicose and spider veins as well as
rough dry heels.
Absorbs moisture and can prevent odors
from locking into the insole material.
A few more thoughts...opt for a toeless style when wearing open toe sandals. Careful selection of color and sheerness will ensure the most natural look.
Since our legs make up roughly 50% of our body's height, take the time to assess what makes you look your best, despite the current trends. By doing so, you will ensure that you appear your best from head to toe.
